In 1885, John and Frances Glessner commissioned famed American architect Henry Hobson Richardson to build them a house on the exclusive Prairie Avenue. The result was a home renowned for its warmth, elegance, and beauty.

The Glessner House Museum invites you to experience Victorian entertaining. Tucked away in the historic Prairie Avenue Historic District on Chicago's Near Southside, Glessner House provides a distinctive alternative to hotels and banquet halls. The Museum offers rental space for meetings, private parties, weddings and corporate events. A variety of spaces help make Glessner House Museum ideal for your event.

LARGE EVENTS

Renovated in 2000, the Courtyard is one of the jewels in the Glessner House crown. A peaceful outdoor retreat, it is the perfect setting for a party, or wedding ceremony and reception. The Courtyard is a child friendly space, ideal for outdoor birthday parties and other family celebrations.

(Capacity: 20 to 40)

The Dining Room is the only historic space available for rent on the first floor of the museum. The curved bay of windows looks out to the Courtyard. This space can be used for a small wedding ceremony or private dinner. Adjacent to the Parlor, the piano can be rented for musical entertainment during your event.

Once an all glass conservatory, this space is ideal for conferences, retreats, lectures or small parties. The beautiful view of the Courtyard, the room's octagonal shape and vaulted ceiling make it a unique choice for any venue. This space is offered as the "brides room" for weddings in the Courtyard or Coach House.

The East Gallery (Capacity: 30-60)

Currently under renovation.

Formerly the Glessner children's bedrooms, the East Gallery offers charming details. Its large windows overlook Prairie Avenue and two mantles flank its walls. The room is a wonderful setting for small dinners, receptions, meetings and lectures.
