LOCATION AND TRAVEL DIRECTIONS

Glessner House Museum is located on the southwest corner of Prairie Avenue and 18th Street. Prairie is 2 blocks east of Michigan Avenue. 18th Street is 2 miles south of downtown Chicago. The Tour Center is located in the historic coach house, on the west end of the building's 18th Street (north) facade. Limited free street parking is available.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
(From outlying neighborhoods: Take any inbound subway/elevated line into the Chicago downtown "Loop" area.) Once in the downtown area, walk to the northwest corner of Michigan and Jackson. Catch the CTA BUS #1 Indiana-Hyde Park, #3 King Drive, or #4 Cottage Grove (If you are taking a METRA train, you can get the #1 Indiana-Hyde Park bus at UNION STATION.) Ride the bus southbound to the southwest corner of Michigan Avenue and 18th Street. Walk 1-1/2 blocks east to the GHM Tour Center. Call 312-836-7000 for further public transit travel information.

BY AUTO
From downtown or North Michigan Avenue: Take Michigan Avenue south to 18th Street (six blocks south of Roosevelt Road). Turn left (east) and go 1-1/2 blocks to the GHM Tour Center.

Via Lake Shore Drive (from the North or South): Take LSD to the Roosevelt Road (12th Street) exit. Go west to the second stoplight at Indiana Avenue and turn left (south). (NOTE: DO NOT follow "Museum Campus Parking" signs at Columbus Drive) Continue six blocks south on Indiana Avenue to 18th Street. Turn left (east) and go 1/2 block to the GHM Tour Center.

Via Dan Ryan Expressway (90/94) from the south: Exit at "Chinatown/22nd Street" Turn right (east) onto 22nd Street (also called Cermak Road). Go to Indiana Avenue and then turn left (north). Proceed up Indiana Avenue to 18th Street and turn right (east). Go a 1/2 block to the GHM Tour Center.

Via Kennedy Expressway (90/94) from the north: As you drive south beyond the downtown exits, you'll pick up the Dan Ryan (follow the signs to "Indiana") and continue south to the 18th Street exit. At the end of the ramp, turn left (east) onto 18th Street. Continue east approximately 1 1/4 miles to the GHM Tour Center.

Via Eisenhower Expressway (290) from the west: Drive east all the way, to Michigan Avenue (the Eisenhower becomes Congress Parkway as you enter the downtown area). At Michigan Avenue, turn right (south) and continue about 1 1/2 miles south to 18th Street and go 1 1/2 blocks to the GHM Tour Center.

Via Stevenson Expressway (55) from the west: Exit at Martin Luther King Drive. Go north to Cermak Road. At this intersection, continue northward on Calumet Avenue (King Drive ends here). Several blocks later, Calumet will curve west, becoming 18th Street. GHM is at the southwest corner of Prairie Avenue and 18th Street; the Tour Center is at the west end of the 18th Street facade.
