This celebration, held on the 141st anniversary of the birth of Frances Glessner Lee, will serve as the official public opening of the first phase of restoration of her childhood bedroom. The event will include hors d’oeuvres and beverages, music, tours of the restoration, recognition of the donor, and birthday cake, of course!
Experience high Victorian tea in the historic dining room of Glessner House! Surrounded by beautiful oak paneling, a gilt ceiling, and a fireplace clad in exotic Persian tiles, attendees will be treated to a traditional high tea with fine china, silver, and an assortment of delicious treats. Invite your mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, or good friend for what promises to be a most memorable experience. Seatings at 11:30am and 2:30pm.
This very special tour provides attendees with the rare opportunity to visit the interiors of several historic homes in the Prairie Avenue Historic District. Following the tour, attendees are invited to return to the museum for a reception with live jazz music, appetizers from local restaurants, and silent auction, featuring theatre tickets, Chicago memorabilia, collectibles, architectural fragments, and other items of interest.
