This tour will take you down Chicago’s historic Prairie Avenue, once home to Marshall Field, George Pullman, and many other business and social leaders of the late 19th century. Highlights will include a brief tour of the new Simmerling Gallery of Prairie Avenue History and an interior tour of the National Historic Landmark Second Presbyterian Church with its collection of nine Tiffany windows.
Tour guide William Tyre is the executive director and curator of Glessner House Museum and the author of Chicago’s Historic Prairie Avenue, published in 2008 by Arcadia Publishing. Copies of the book are available in the museum store.
