Cover illustration from the 1907 edition of Helen’s Babies by John Habberton. Originally published in 1876, the book was a humorous account of the adventures of the author’s son. The full title reads Helen’s Babies with some account of their ways innocent, crafty, angelic, impish, witching and repulsive also a partial record of their actions during ten days of their existence.
The illustration is by B. Cory Kilvert (1879-1946) a prolific Canadian illustrator, who designed covers for Life and worked as a staff artist for Collier’s and New York World.
