George Glessner took this photograph at the World’s Columbian Exposition during a visit in the summer of 1893. At center is one of several stands for The Union News Company that could have been found on the fairgrounds. The company sold newspapers, magazines, postcards, and other printed materials to fairgoers, and had stands around the country on street corners, in railroad stations, and in hotels.

This particular stand stood on the south side of the Administration Building, shown at left. A portion of the south facade of the Manufactures and Liberal Arts Building, facing the Court of Honor, can be seen at far right.
